Our Strandtown Chess Team have been busy in recent weeks. They were competing in the All Ireland Primary Schools Championships against the top 2 teams from all four provinces. The team was Dexter Harris, Naomi Hamilton, Jack Dickson, Reuben Magill and Justin Macartney. They played 5 matches winning one, drawing one and losing three. They finished as the top team from Ulster. The standard was incredibly high and they were competing against the top primary school players in the country, including many players that have played for Ireland.
It is great to see the chess team and chess club going from strength to strength and we thank Mr. Harris for the time and effort he puts into this club for the benefit of so many children.
