Rugby teams victorious!
On Friday past, our rugby teams were home to Inchmarlo Prep. In perfect playing conditions, both teams were confident, fired up and determined to maintain their unbeaten season. The 'Cheetahs' set their stall out with early scores to settle any nerves. Led by captain Ruari Parks, the boys controlled the match from start to finish and led comfortably at half time. Their rock solid defence and clever link up play in attack gave them a handsome 15-1 victory. Great to see our debutants playing with such flair and confidence.
The 'Lions' captained by Iaith Hanash had an altogether tighter affair. Both teams were not prepared to give an inch. The defence was outstanding and opportunities to score were therefore kept to a minimum. It was forward, Raanan Potter, who eventually broke the deadlock with a well worked try after a long spell of pressure. 1-0 at halftime. The second half continued in the same vein with crunching tackles and some exceptional play from both teams. A James Nelson try gave Strandtown some breathing space but Inchmarlo came back with a try of their own to narrow the gap. The last few minutes were thankfully played deep in Inchmarlo's half and as the final whistle blew, the Strandtown 'Lions' went off deserved 2-1 victors. A bruising and physical encounter but still unbeaten with a trip to the Downshire Blitz next.
Thank you again to all the magnificent support for our boys! It is very much appreciated.
