The budget allocated to Strandtown allows £200 to go to each class to resource copy books, art materials, reading books, colouring pencils, whiteboard pens, posters, backing paper, educational displays & other stationery. This equates to approx. £6.80 per child per year and is clearly inadequate to cover the range of practical resources required and there are no further funds in the block budget given to Strandtown to increase it. Further budget cuts for 2018/2019 mean that our school is now struggling to fund this for the next school year, 2018/2019. These are necessary resources for our children so funds raised so generously by you at PTA events this year will now pay for these essential resources.
Along with paying for this, your support has also bought some fun stuff too – outdoor games for the Willow Garden and the school music licence. The grants that we have managed to secure have paid for new garden furniture for the Willow Garden and the Love for Life programme. These will also pay for a planned first aid training programme and parental workshops to give our parents practical insight into how Maths and Literacy is taught in KS2 and to understand their child’s learning experience.
