Parent Focus Group
Tuesday 15 October saw the first meeting of the Parent Focus Group for the school year 2019/20. This group of parents, along with Mrs Hutchinson and Miss Bailie, meets three times in the year to discuss various aspects of school life and to offer the perspective of a parent!
This time we chatted about the parents’ evenings in September and the parent consultations coming up in October, giving feedback about these and offering thoughts on how they could be developed. We also discussed the transition from year 4-5 and the impact this has on the children. We talked about how this very complicated process is undertaken and what could be done to ensure it is as positive an experience as possible for the children.
We also gave some time to chatting about extra-curricular activities, particularly music provision in the school, picking up on discussions that the Parent Focus Group had last year and on changes that had been made, including giving the opportunity to p5 pupils to audition for an instrument.
The Parent Focus Group is open to anyone who would like to come along; there is always a great selection of tea, coffee and treats and it’s a brilliant opportunity to speak into the life of the school.
