Opportunity for a Strandtown baby to become a TINY TEACHER!
Strandtown needs a baby aged between 2 and 4 months to become one of its most influential teachers! Could this be your baby?
In this programme the baby is the “Teacher” and a lever, which the instructor uses to help children identify and reflect on their own feelings and the feelings of others.
Last year saw Strandtown’s involvement in the Roots of Empathy Programme begin, as one of the year 4 classes learnt about themselves as strong and caring individuals through the connection they made with a parent and baby who were regular visitors to the classroom throughout the year.
We would like to give more children the chance to learn in this way but really need a volunteer baby and parent to join with us in the vision. The commitment needed is 9 visits of just 1 hour.
Roots of Empathy is an international, evidence-based classroom program that has shown significant effect in reducing levels of aggression among schoolchildren by raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy.
