Interesting Visitors.... eels!
Room 13 had some very interesting visitors last week. The children learned about the amazing life cycle and habits of freshwater and salt water eels, including some from Lough Neagh which is the largest fresh water lake in the British Isles. Cliff Mason, a Strandtown parent, helped to organise this visit when the children learned from experts Dr Derek Evans, leading eel scientist from the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institiute (AFBI), along with Cathy Chauhan from the Lough Neagh Fisherman’s Cooperative Society. The eels were stroked and held by the children and they discussed and examined other creatures which the eels pass on their amazing journeys. A big thank you to all concerned!
