Important Message from Mrs Hutchinson: Home Learning, Pastoral Support, Refunds and our 2.6 Challenge!
Dear Parents,
I hope you have all had a lovely and restful Easter period. Monday is the start of the Summer Term in school. Normally this signals a summer uniform, preparation for Sport's Day and thoughts of summer holidays ahead. For now it means that you are trying to balance your household, work from home remotely and support the delivery of your children's learning - it is not a small task!
The 2.6 Challenge
To start this term we wanted to do something which was a remote whole school effort. We are asking pupils and families to engage in the 2.6 Challenge. This is asking them to do something 26 times/ for 2.6 hours/ or for 26 hours! We would love to see photos or short clips of your activities posted on Class Dojo and we will share some examples on the year group pages. Supporting others has always been central to the work of our school and it would be lovely to see this continue. We are doing this to raise funds for Action Cancer as we are aware the essential work of some charities is under threat during this pandemic. Action Cancer provides important screening services within our community and we want to support this for it to continue. So get active 26 times and please give your donations via: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/StrandtownPrimarySchool
Home Learning
During this term, teachers will post on Dojo daily but this should be to direct their learning for the day and for encouragement. I want to keep this balanced for families and not a cascade of daily messages which feel overwhelming in their expectation. Please remember you can contact your child's class teacher on Dojo with any questions and encourage your child to post examples of their best learning or activities they require additional support with.
The school website will also be continually updated within the 'Home Learning' tab, however teachers will direct you to this when there is something relevant to download.
If you have any difficulties accessing electronic communications, please get in touch.
Pastoral Support
Many of our pupils have been supported in school by our pupil support co-ordinator Mrs Hunt, should you or your child wish to get in touch with Mrs Hunt please inform your child's class teacher.
As a school we want to ensure that we continue to be available if required for any pastoral support for families or individuals. If you have an concerns of a pastoral nature and wish to speak to a member of our Safeguarding Team, just email school and a member of the team will get in touch with you.
Attached to this e mail is information on the Safer Schools app. This is a home learning hub of free resources for helping parents and careers in educating their children on staying safer in a digital world. I would suggest you download this app as it will have useful resources for you at this time.
Refunds
We have been processing refunds on any monies we hold for residential trips and music tuition. I appreciate your patience here as we work through this large list. Refunds of concert monies will be arranged for collection from the school office once school reopens.
In the meantime, please know you are doing a great job at home and that you have the full support of the Strandtown staff as usual.
Wishing all our Strandtown families continued health and wellbeing.
Many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many (26 times!!)
Kind Regards,
Victoria Hutchinson.
