EA's Discovery Workshops

18th Oct 2021

The Education Authority (EA) is currently reviewing how we communicate with parents, young people, schools, stakeholders and the wider public in relation to the services provided for children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Our overall aim is to make it easier, clearer and more straightforward to access information about the educational services and supports available, helping every child to be equipped and empowered to reach their potential.

As part of this work, we are undertaking a number of ‘Discovery Workshops’ to better understand your needs and expectations when seeking information about what our services provide for those with an identified SEN.

These workshops will help inform our ongoing work to improve the experience of young people, parents, teachers and other professionals who need to access advice and guidance on navigating the SEN process.

As a parent/carer who is interested in finding out more about the EA’s Pupil Support Services, we would like to invite you to take part in a ‘Discovery Workshop’ to provide feedback on what you would need or like to know in relation to services that are available to children with special education needs and how you would like this information communicated.

The workshop will take place on Monday 18 October 2021 at 10.00 am.

The session will last around 90 minutes and your input and feedback will be invaluable in shaping how we move forward. All contributions during the ‘Discovery Workshop’ will be confidential and shared only with the project team to help inform future decisions. We will not collect any personally identifiable information during the session.

If you are able to take part, please RSVP to EAPlanSpEP@mcecomms.com with your name and the session you have been invited to attend before Wednesday 13 October 2021 at 1.00 pm. If you have any additional requests please let us know in advance of the workshop.

You will then be provided with a link to attend the meeting remotely in advance of the meeting.

Is there anything we can provide to ensure the workshop is accessible for you? For example please let us know if you need any of the following:

  • BSL/ ISL interpreter
  • Language other than English interpreter
