Delamont Day 4

31st May 2019

We made it to Day 4!!! Bewildered, exhausted and barely able to string 2 words together. But that's enough about the 3 teachers...

My last report ended with all 25 pupils making it to the campfire. Discussion topics for the night included most embarrassing story, how you would spend £250, best place to eat and of course the obligatory ghost stories. Now would any of you spend £250 in the world's largest McDonalds? Neither would anyone else! As the flames died down, the smores came out. By midnight, all but 8 hardcore individuals had made their way to bed. By 1am, the Remainers had to be actively 'encouraged' to get some sleep.

By breakfast, most children's neck muscles had ceased to function and were unable to prop exhausted heads up unaided. What followed will be forever known as 'The Great Eye Pad Conspiracy'. For some unknown reason, the pupils were under the impression that an electronic iPad would be the top prize for the star archer as we headed back to the archery barn for a winner takes all shoot off. The look on our winner's face as he was presented with his 'prize' was priceless. Ecstasy to agony!

Bags packed, odd socks collected but none claimed, kit returned and we were ready for the off. We have had an amazing 4 days - full of new challenges & experiences, lots and lots of laughs, a few life skills developed, new friendships made. Who could ask for better than that? A wonderful group of children who did their school, their teachers and their parents proud. To quote one of the instructors 'One of the best groups we have ever had!'. Praise indeed.

Thanks to the parents who packed bags at one end and now have a Friday night full of washing and stories at the other. Your continued support does not go unnoticed. So that's it...my work here is done for this year. Enjoy the photos (we've included a few extras from yesterday) and enjoy having your nearest and dearest back home.
