Room 15 become Bridge Builders...
Room 15 have been inspired by the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a chief engineer during the 19th Century, to design and build bridges of our own as part of this term's STEM learning. Groups worked together to produce a series of designs before predicting the strongest structure to take forward to the construction stage. To make this a fair test, each group was given 10 sheets of A4 paper, 1 sheet of card and a limited amount of sellotape. All of our bridges were successful in withstanding the weight of a 200g toy car and many structures were sturdy enough to support 500g and even 1kg weights! We ended the day by creating more bridges using Minecraft in the computer suite.
Well done Room 15... I think Mr Brunel himself would have been very proud of your engineering successes!
